Does Lake Dental Clinic accept the Social Health Authority (SHA) cover? You may ask.
Yes, we accept the SHA Comprehensive Cover for Civil Servants, Mwalimu Comprehensive Medical Cover and Usalama Medical Cover for several dental procedures, mainly general dental services. This means that any civil servant, and their dependents within our service reach can access dental services available under the SHA Comprehensive Cover for Civil Servants.
Dental services covered by SHA Civil Servants’ Cover
1. Consultation
SHA Civil Servants’ cover can foot the cost incurred during dental examination processes, including x-rays and the dentist’s consultation charges.
2. Teeth Cleaning, Polishing, and Full Mouth Scaling
Annual routine dental cleaning involves the removal of stains, plaque, and tartar, which form on the surface of the teeth. It is a necessary procedure to keep you safe from periodontal diseases and gingivitis (gum disease). Teeth Cleaning helps end dental-related bad breath.
3. Paediatric Dentistry
Paediatric dentistry deals with children’s cases, such as removing milk teeth and fixing cavities.
4. Root Canal Treatment
5. Tooth Filling
Through tooth filling, we restore a missing tooth structure because of decay or trauma. We at Lake Dental use composite resin and other filling components.
6. Tooth Removal (Extraction)
When a permanent tooth can’t be restored through any other procedure, we recommend the removal of the affected tooth or teeth for your peace of mind and overall well-being.
Why don’t we accept SHA cover for non-civil servants?
Self-employed individuals and their dependents do not have access to dental services under their SHA coverage. This is because SHA does not have a dental allotment for them at the moment.

My experience at Lake Dental Clinic was extremely disappointing, and I feel compelled to share it so others can make informed decisions.
Our company was approached by the clinic’s consultant with many promises, including a 10% discount if we visited within 10 days and the assurance that “empathy meets expertise.” Unfortunately, my experience reflected the opposite.
I visited the clinic for a simple filling, yet the outcome was painful and distressing. By 1 a.m., I was unable to sleep due to severe pain on one side of my face. I received no pain medication, no follow-up communication, and not even a receipt after my visit. Attempts to reach the receptionist afterward went unanswered.
Additionally, the promised corporate discount was not applied, and the consultant who coordinated everything was unreachable once the appointment was confirmed. This lack of follow-through left a very poor impression.
When I arrived, I was mistakenly called Margaret instead of Caroline, and it became clear that no one had been briefed about my case. I had to explain everything repeatedly, which added to the frustration and showed a lack of internal communication.
The clinician who attended to me did her best, but the overall experience was unacceptable. I was informed that the filling placed was temporary and that I would need to return in a month for a permanent one, something that had not been communicated beforehand. After paying 9,000 KES for one filling, the material is already wearing off, meaning I may need to pay again to correct an issue that should have been resolved the first time.
In the end, I had to purchase my own medication because I could tell something was wrong as soon as the numbness wore off.
This experience left me feeling disappointed, frustrated, and let down after placing trust in this facility. I hope this feedback encourages the clinic to review its processes, communication, and after-care standards.

The visit I did on Thursday 5th March 2026 was a memorable one. The receptionist handled me so well professionally. The dentist who attended to me gave me a listening ear and brought back my smile. He even narrated to me how I should take care of my teeth after the procedure. The result, at least for now, is worth recommending to 100 other people within 1 month. Kudos Lake Dental Clinic
